Auconet Positioned in Gartner Magic Quadrant for 4th Consecutive Year

December 18, 2014 – San Francisco, CA – Auconet has, for the 4th consecutive year, been positioned in Gartner’s Network Access Control (NAC) Magic Quadrant for its Business Infrastructure Control Solution (BICS) platform. Gartner recognized Auconet for its completeness of vision and ability to execute. BICS’ NAC security capability is a fundamental component of its comprehensive next-generation IT Operations Management (ITOM) solution.

“We’re pleased to again be recognized in the Gartner Magic Quadrant,” said Frank Winter, Auconet CEO. “Gartner does a rigorous investigation to determine positioning. We believe Magic Quadrant recognition really validates what our customers tell us about the value of BICS.”

BICS is used in both large enterprises with vast networks, and industrial organizations. Its customers say that they benefit from end-to-end network access control and security, plus major ITOM advantages.

  • BICS discovers, secures, and centrally controls and manages 100% of endpoints, which greatly benefits both large enterprises and major industrial companies
  • BICS supports large-scale, multi-tenant systems, which appeals to managed security service providers (MSSPs) that offer NAC services
  • BICS features NAC capabilities for implementing specific industrial protocols. For example, Siemens licenses BICS to help support SCADA environments that it manages
  • BICS’ agentless approach provides ease of administration

Auconet’s major global customers, including BASF, Siemens, Deutsche Bahn, Airbus, ING, DHL, and Siltronic depend on the BICS platform for both NAC and IT operations management in global enterprises with hundreds of thousands of endpoints.

Another impressive example of BICS’ advanced NAC capability is seen in its implementation at Saint Martin’s University, in Washington State. The IT department, which supports a diverse group of over 1600 students, faced extreme BYOD and “Internet of Things“ challenges due to its constantly changing student population with hordes of “no-name” devices. “We evaluated several NAC vendors, including our incumbent NAC vendor, and found that BICS was the only solution that could meet our demanding requirements,” said Neal Bullinger, Senior Systems Administrator for Saint Martin’s, who manages IT security.

The combination of MAC Layer-2 and/or 802.1X authentication, the automation of all processes, and massive scalability make BICS NAC truly unique. Managing, controlling, and securing the network, and rapidly visualizing all devices, allows both enterprises and industrial operations to move from complex to easy, with significantly lower TCO.
